Route Info: The second most popular and indeed one of the most beautiful routes up the mountain is the Machame Route. Also known as the Whisky Route, this trail is both longer and slightly more challenging than the Marangu Route. Where accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers strictly tents only. The route is better suited to the slightly more adventurous hiker, however rewarding him with a scenic splendor such as not seen on the Marangu route. Provided of its challenge about 80% of hiker makes to the summit of Africa.

Day 0: Arrive in Tanzania

You will be picked up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Moshi town (Keys Hotel, Panama garden resort, or Kilimanjaro Wonders Hotel); you will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming trek and do an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. The missing gear can be rented on this day.Meals: No Meals Included.

DAY 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Elevation: 1830m to 3000m, 6000ft to 10,200ft

Distance covered: Approximately 11 kilometers

Vegetation: Montane Forest

Our mountain guides and a support crew will arrive at the hotel in the morning for pre-climbing briefing, after which you will travel by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park's entrance: Machame Gate (1,800 m). After the quick formality of acquiring climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will start trekking up to Machame Camp (3,010 m). The trekking route will take you through the rainforest , so we recommend you take spare clothes, and your rain gears.

Please Note: This will be your first day at this altitude, so it is strongly recommended the following:

>>Abstain from consuming alcohol and caffeine
>>Drink over 4 liters of bottled water daily (little by little, frequently)
>>ake a Diamox pill to help alleviate symptoms of altitude sickness. Most mountain climbers take Diamox in the morning, before they start their ascent, in order to reduce discomfort associated with altitude sickness. We recommend you consult your physician prior to the trip in case of potential allergies.

At night you may experience discomfort associated with acclimatization to the high altitude: because of a reduction in your waking breathing pattern, your body gets less oxygen than during the day. Taking altitude into account, you may therefore start feeling sick and have a headache. Pay attention to your own body and tell your guide if you start feeling any symptoms of altitude sickness.

DAY 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Elevation: 3000m to 3840m, 10,200ft to 12,600ft

Distance: 5km

Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

After breakfast leave the glades of the rainforest and continue on an ascending path up to a steep, rocky ridge. On the Shira Plateau, the trail passes through heather and open moorlands, then cross a large river gorge to Shira Cave Camp for lunch then after some rest, there will be a chance to do a short acclimatization walk before dinner and overnight..

DAY 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Elevation: 3800m to 4630m to 3986m, 15,000ft to 13,700ft

Distance covered: Approximately 11 kilometers

Vegetation: Semi-desert

Approx. time taken: 5-7 hours

From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the Sharks Tooth. Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 4876m / 15,997 ft. We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 3860m / 12,664 ft. Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley

Elevation: (3,950m/12,960ft) to (4,200m/13,780ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

Wakeup coffee. Today you will have two breakfast; starts with the climb of the Breakfast wall which is the (NIKE NAME) Barranco Wall. Safety is needed your guides will assist you wherever necessary. Following the ridge as it goes up and down, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the south glacier of Kibo. In the Karanga Valley you will have hot lunch.

Day 5: Hiking karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4200 meter to 4,640 meter

Distance covered: Approximately 2 kilometers

Vegetation: Moorland

Approx. time taken: 2-3 hours

Wakeup coffee. Today you will have 2 to 3 hours hike to Barafu Camp You have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, you can relax have dinner and call it an early sleep and prepare for the summit day.

Day 6: Hiking Barafu Camp 4,640 meter to / Stella Point/ Uhuru Peak 5,895 meter to Mweka Camp 3,080 meter.

Distance covered: Approximately 15.5 kilometers

Approx. time taken: 5 - 7 hours

After hot coffee and light snacks, the hike begins at around midnight. By headlight, you will climb the screes of Kibo. About 5 to 7 hours of ascending in the dark you will arrive at Stella Point, the crater rim of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Another 1 to 2 hours hiking along the crater ridge will lead you to Uhuru Peak (the summit) 5,895 meters.
Here you will see Kilimanjaro in all its glory, enjoying the 360° view over the landscape below as the sun rises. You are now standing on the Roof of Africa. After amazing pictures and all your explorations the simple descent runs almost along the same route and shortly before midday you should arrive at Barafu Camp, where the porters and the cook will be waiting for you. After a warm meal and a well-deserved break of approximately 1 to 2 hours, you will be on your way down to Mweka Camp 3,080 meter for a well-earned rest await

DAY 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka gate

Elevation: 3100m to 1830m, 10,200ft to 6000ft

Distance: 10 km

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

Vegetation: Forest

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included

The final ascend of your amazing Kilimanjaro adventure begins after breakfast with a traditional songs about Kilimanjaro and the life of Tanzanians ceremony with the mountain crew. Then a gentle 2 to 3 hours descent through the rainforest continues to Mweka Gate, where you will be picked up and drive to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. After all is hiking day the Kilimanjaro national park will be prepared for your certificate. This will be for those who went to Uhuru Peak/Stella Point.
